Leigh Hunt

 Jenny kissed me when we met,

  Jumping from the chair she sat in;

Time, you thief, who love to get

  Sweets into your list, put that in!

Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,

  Say that health and wealth have missed me,

Say I'm growing old, but add,

  Jenny kissed me.

         -Leigh Hunt (Rondeau - 1838)

James Henry Leigh Hunt.  1784 - 1859.  English journalist, essayist, poet, and political radical, best known for his contemporary reputation and association with and influence upon the English romantic poets Byron, Shelly, and Keats.  As the result of articles in his periodical The Examiner attacking King George IV, he was imprisoned for two years (1813-1815) and became a hero among the liberals and radicals of the day.  Among his verse the best-known are Abou Ben Adhem (1834), The Glove and the Lions (1836), and The Story of Rimini (1816).
